MSF RiderCoach Preparation Course - MS4100

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach Preparation Course is designed to prepare a well-skilled, safety-motivated motorcyclist to become a MSF Certified RiderCoach. The primary objective of the certification course is to prepare students to conduct The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourse as well as other specialized courses and modules of The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Education and Training System (MSF RETS).  The course consists of both classroom and practical range training, practice coaching, administration, assessment, emergency procedures, and evaluation techniques. The MSF RETS is based upon the principles of adult learning.  Students will receive training on how to conduct training in an adult learning environment.  Tuition: $525

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  1. Conduct a Basic RiderCourse in accordance with MSF and Hawaii DOT rules.
  2. Coach new motorcyclist in the advancement of riding techniques.
  3. Demonstrate proper classroom and motorcycle training range safety procedures.
  4. Blend teaching and learning techniques to deliver the most efficient and effective classroom activities and range exercises.
  5. Evaluate knowledge and skills developed by students in a Basic RiderCourse and determine that students meet or exceed the minimum standards for completion as set forth by the MSF and Hawaii DOT.

Attendance Policy

Participants are expected to attend all class sessions. Sign-in sheets are completed at every class session. Participants must attend all classes in order to satisfactorily complete the course. Arriving more than five minutes late at the start of a class will beconsidered an unexcused absence and may result in the participant being dropped from the class.

Standards of Progress
Attendance, completion of assignments, quiz/exam scores, and satisfactory performance of all skills/tasks contribute to the overall grade. Possible grades include:

(CR) is used to indicate passing with a knowledge test of 80% or higher and skills test less than 21 points off.

(NC) is used to indicate not passing grade of “NC” may repeat a course once. Additional repeats may be allowed after discussion with a Program Coordinator, and participants may be required to repeat the entire course at an additional expense.
