Puka Mai Ke Koʻa: Information Session
In this session, kaleikū ruiz will provide a brief introduction to and tour of Puka Mai Ke Koʻa. Puka Mai Ke Koʻa is a free, asynchronous course that intersects themes of Hawaiian worldview, settler colonialism, and LGBTQ+ discourse. The course examines how LGBTQ+ concepts can displace Hawaiian culture and Kānaka Maoli and explores how Hawaiian culture can serve as a useful source of perspective and liberation for our Hawaiʻi community as a whole. Those who complete all modules can earn a certificate. The course is open to faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Question & answer will be held at the end of the session for both those interested in the course, as well as for course completers who would like ask questions about the content or provide feedback on their experience.
This session is part of the QUEERIFY 2025 series, which consists of Zoom sessions exploring queer stories and experiences. For more information, contact QUEERIFY creator kaleikūkamakani “kalei” ruiz at agorospe@hawaii.edu.
